On November 28th, a thought-provoking article by Cathalijne Adams was published on the “Alliance for American Manufacturing” (AAM) website. Titled, “A New York State Assemblyman Wants Amazon to Create a ‘Made in USA’ Filter,” it provides some significant data pertinent to the Holiday Season.
Mark Walczyk (R) is the assemblyman of note and insists that this minor addition would benefit Amazon, American entrepreneurs, and the national economy; especially this time of year. According to the global decision intelligence company Morning Consult, the vast majority of consumers polled prefer purchasing American-made gifts and would be more likely to purchase them if large retailers carried more of them.
Many larger retailers are spending record levels on marketing this year for fear that inflation will lessen holiday shopping. AAM’s President Scott Paul thinks they’re “missing out” by neglecting to promote American-made products. Fortunately, the AAM recently released its ninth annual Made in America Holiday Gift Guide. This is a directory of American-made products by state.
CTMRG would like to note that AAM’s current Gift Guide only features 2 CT companies and their directory lists only 11. If you are a manufacturer of consumer products and haven’t already submitted your listing, we highly encourage your company to reach out to them for some additional reach this Holiday Season!
