It’s Earth Day! As we pause to remember everything that Earth Day symbolizes, we’d like to take the opportunity to highlight a couple Connecticut manufacturers. Both of these companies work toward sustainability on a daily basis.
The first manufacturer is AMGRAPH Packaging. Their manufacturing process used to create packaging has been upgraded to the sustainability standards other companies should aspire to. AMGRAPH recycles or reuses 99.5% of the waste stream and maintains zero wastewater to ground discharge.
Their PureCell System fuel cells and EnergyStar rated equipment amplify this sustainability to new heights. These significant upgrades allow for efficient motors and 100% of the facility’s Class 1 Renewable Energy to be created with the fuel cells
AMGRAPH extends their sustainability efforts to the products they produce as well. From surface printing sub-straights with water-based inks and adhesives rather than solvents, to electron beam inks that allow for no VOC’s, who knew packaging could be so green! We congratulate AMGRAPH for taking the initiative to set worldwide industry standards in Sustainable Packaging.
The second company we would like to highlight is PREFERRED Utilities Manufacturing Corporation. For the past 100 years, they have been striving for sustainable solutions in the boiler industry. Their products reduce emissions and increase efficiencies to meet the sustainability targets of the future.
Their investment into continuous research and development has enabled them to incorporate alternative fuel sources into their product offering. This has been groundbreaking! These new fuel options have allowed PREFERRED to assist colleges and universities across the country meet their commitment to carbon neutrality in advance of their original target deadlines. Other industries impacted by PREFERRED’s ingenuity include manufacturing plants, data centers, hospitals, nursing homes, and government facilities where the need for reliability, safety, and redundancies are paramount.
As proof of their commitment, PREFERRED has been running their own plant on renewable fuel for nearly three years. We are thrilled to have such an innovative manufacturer in Connecticut, and we commend them for their commitment to a sustainable future.
If your manufacturing company is doing something to help the planet, we would love to hear from you and celebrate your work! Earth Day comes once a year, but making sustainable changes to improve humanity makes lasting impacts for today and tomorrow.
